Regents’ Cup celebrates free speech, civil discourse at мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê’s public universities; Honorable Gov. Hobbs to provide remarks

WHAT: Students from мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê’s public universities will square off in debate and speech competitions during the Regents’ Cup that celebrates civil discourse and freedom of expression at мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê’s public universities.

Regents’ Cup participants will compete for scholarships in the event that showcases the universities’ commitment to uphold the intrinsic right of all students to freedom of speech. The theme for the 2023 Regents’ Cup is Liberty, Prosperity and the Constitution.

мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê’s public universities are recognized as exemplars in free speech; мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê State University, Northern мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê University and the University of мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê are all recognized with the highest “ from FIRE (the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression).

KEYNOTE: The honorable Governor Katie Hobbs is scheduled to provide remarks during the Regents’ Cup.

WHEN: Saturday, Feb. 25, 2023. The competition begins at 8:45 a.m. and Gov. Hobbs is scheduled for remarks at 1 p.m. The full schedule of tournament events is available here.
