Virtual Regents’ Cup celebrates free speech, civil discourse at ¼ϲ public universities
WHAT: The Regents’ Cup debate competition celebrating free speech, civil discourse and democratic engagement among students from all of ¼ϲ’s public universities will take place as a virtual event April 24.
The public can watch the 2021 Regents’ Cup competition
Students participating in the Regents’ Cup will compete in the debate-style competition during an event illustrating the commitment of the universities to upholding the intrinsic rights of all students to freedom of speech.
This tri-university competition features student team members engaging in debate and speech events. Participants in the Regents’ Cup compete for scholarships to advance their education at the universities.
¼ϲ’s public universities are recognized as exemplars in free speech; ¼ϲ State University, Northern ¼ϲ University and the University of ¼ϲ are all recognized with the highest “ from FIRE (the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education).
WHO: Students from ¼ϲ’s public universities will participate in the day-long Regents’ Cup. Judges for the event include leading figures from government, industry and academia.
